In what the City of Austin is calling a major step toward modernizing its digital infrastructure, the city has launched a completely redesigned website at AustinTexas.gov.
The goal of the redesign is simple: make city government more accessible to every resident.
City leaders say the new site features a cleaner structure and improved accessibility tools to ensure all Austinites can navigate city services regardless of their technical ability. By focusing on "intuitive navigation" rather than complex departmental silos, the city hopes to reduce the time residents spend searching for information.
"We have worked hard to make everything on the site easier to find," said City Manager T.C. Broadnax.
The relaunch project cost roughly $1.5 million and was approved by City Council in 2024. The city will pay an additional $1.04 million over the next three years for continued improvements, maintenance, and software licensing.
Broadnax says the city is currently inviting visitors to participate in a short survey to help guide future updates.
It's the first major overhaul for the city website since 2012
