(Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are investigating two weekend shootings - one of which turned deadly in South Austin. That and more in your Morning Headlines.

New Overnight: Austin Police are on the scene of the city's 10th homicide investigation of the year. APD says officers were called to the 6400 block of Bradsher Drive around 10:15pm last night; that's near William Cannon and South First Street in South Austin. Officers found a man who was injured; despite lifesaving measures from EMS medics, he was pronounced deceased on the scene some time later. APD says no suspect has been identified; there's also no word on the victim's identity.

Sixth Street Shooting: An investigation is ongoing after multiple people were injured during a shooting on Sixth Street early Sunday morning. Police say it happened around 1am near Sixth and Brazos; officers found one victim on a pedicab near Eighth and Brazos, and then found three others inside a club on Sixth. Two of the victims were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; two other victims declined medical assistance. Officials said no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call APD.

Texas Dems Pick New Leader: Texas Democrats have picked their new leader. Kendall Scudder won a seven-way race with just over half of the votes, taking over the seat vacated by former party boss Gilberto Hinojosa who announced his resignation shortly after the 2024 election. Scudder says he'll work to recalibrate the party towards a focus on working people - something he's accused party leaders in the past of ignoring. He'll serve out the remainder of Hinojosa's term, which runs through the 2026 general election. Texas Democrats haven't won a statewide office in Texas since 1994.

Valley Flooding: Recovery efforts are continuing in the Rio Grande Valley this morning, where torrential rainfalls last week dumped nearly two feet of rain on some parts of south Texas. Officials in Harlingen say the city received 21 and a half inches of rain in two days - besting a record set back in 1912. Other areas, including Weslaco and Alamo, saw more than a foot of rain. Hundreds of people had to be rescued from rising floodwaters; thousands were without power as well, though those outages have largely been restored this morning. At least three people died during the heavy rains in Hidalgo County, officials said.
