AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police have released body camera footage along with police radio and 911 call audio from a deadly SWAT standoff in southwest Austin earlier this month, that claimed the life of an APD officer.
The materials released Tuesday, in line with the department's critical incident policy, reveal new details in the events surrounding the Nov. 11 standoff that led to the death of Jorge Pastore - the first APD officer to be shot and killed in the line of duty in over 10 years.
The standoff began with a 911 call around 2:49 a.m. that morning, where a woman told dispatchers she was being stabbed.
Officers arrived on the scene about 10 minutes later, learning that two other people were still being held inside the home by 35-year-old Ahmed Mohamed Nassar.
Those officers attempted an emergency entry into the home at 3 a.m., but immediately took fire from Nassar. They did not return fire and backed out of the home; a few minutes later, a SWAT team was called out to the scene.
SWAT officers arrived on the scene around 4 a.m., and made another effort to enter the home at 4:11 a.m. The officers found their way to a rear bedroom, where Nassar opened fire again, wounding Pastore and another officer. Both officers were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center; Pastore died from his injuries about an hour later.
Nassar and the two victims, identified as 63-year old Eyman Elnemrnassar, and 32-year old Riad Nassar, were pronounced deceased on the scene.
Three APD officers fired their weapons during the exchange; those officers have been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of two concurrent investigations into the incident.
