AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are seeking the public's help with a man who disappeared 45 years ago.

Police are looking for information on the case of Brian Thomas Vargo, who was a 21-year old student at the University of Texas. Vargo disappeared on March 9, 1976. The family waited until February 2 of this year to report Vargo's disappearance.

According to police, Vargo stopped attending classes at UT and drove to Colorado, where his car broke down. He traveled back to Houston to get the vehicle's title, and his mother dropped him off at a Houston bus station.

Vargo's family was told that he never returned to his Austin apartment, but Vargo's wallet was found inside.

According to police, Vargo is described as a white male, standing 6 feet tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

According to Amanda Vargo Wattecamps, Vargo's niece, the family just found out this year that Vargo withdrew from UT Austin prior to his disappearance. The family is looking for answers and closure, Wattecamps said.

Anyone with information on Vargo's disappearance is asked to call APD's missing persons unit at 512-974-4123.
