BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (Talk1370.com/NewsRadio 1080 KRLD) -- More than 250 families were evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a controlled burn turned into a wildfire near Bastrop State Park.
Wednesday afternoon, officials said the fire had grown to more than 780 acres, with firefighters holding the fire at roughly 30% containment.
Officials with the Texas A&M Forest Service said no residential structures had been lost to the fire so far, and no injuries had been reported among evacuees or firefighters.
Bastrop County emergency management officials said "crews worked throughout the night continuing to create containment line and patrolling near homes for any threats."
Last night, fire management officials told reporters that it's too early to conclusively determine the cause of the fire but they said it was likely linked to a planned 150-acre prescribed burn in nearby Bastrop County State Park.
In 2011, a wildfire in the same area burned more than 50 square miles and left four people dead.
