CEDAR PARK, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Cedar Park voters went to the polls Saturday, electing a new Mayor and returning three City Council members for new terms, along with approving more than $158 million in bond projects.
In the Mayor's race, unofficial final vote totals showed that Jim Penniman-Morin bested Mike Guevara and Claudia Chavez. Two-term incumbent mayor Corbin Van Arsdale chose to not seek re-election.
“I’m thrilled with the high turnout in our city election and grateful for the trust and confidence placed in me as Cedar Park’s next Mayor," said Penniman-Moran in a news release. "Together, we will keep inclusion, civility and collaboration at the forefront of city government."
Penniman-Morin was elected to the Place 1 seat on the City Council in 2020. Guevara had previously served on the Council as well.
Three incumbents won re-election to their City Council seats Saturday, with Mel Kirkland, Eric Boyce, and Heather Jefts each winning their races with more than two-thirds of the votes.
Voters also gave their approval to three city bond propositions, including an $86.6 million transportation bond package, a $42.2 million parks and recreation package, and $30 million for public safety facilities.
