CEDAR PARK, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Cedar Park officials continued to urge everyone to stay away from a still-burning wildfire near Parmer Lane and R.M. 1431 Wednesday morning.
City officials released several aerial shots of the damage caused by what's being called the Parmer Lane Fire by state forest officials. As of this morning, the fire had burned 50 acres of land and was roughly 60% contained.
During a morning press conference, Cedar Park Fire Chief James Mallinger said crews were continuing to make "significant" efforts on fighting the fire overnight.
In addition to the Bexley at Silverado Apartments, which saw one apartment building declared a total loss and three others damaged by the fire, crews were also working to protect the nearby Whitestone Landing Townhomes and a number of businesses located in the area.
Mallinger said no major injuries and only two minor injuries had been reported. More than 20 agencies from across Central Texas responded to the blaze, which broke out just after 6 p.m. Tuesday night and rose to four alarms.
Overnight evacuation orders that affected the more than 300 apartments at the Bexley complex, along with the Whitestone Landing community were being lifted as of 8:30 a.m. this morning. Mallinger said fire crews would be working with Pedernales Electric crews to restore power to the apartment complex as individual buildings were declared safe.
The Red Cross is assisting displaced residents, including those displaced from the 24 units in the destroyed building 10 at Bexley. Shelter and distribution efforts were being coordinated at the Hill Country Bible Church off of Little Elm Trail near RM 620.
