
AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Authorities said a child died Thursday morning after a fire broke out at a north Austin mobile home park.
Officials believe the child was a four year old girl.
The blaze broke out in the 8100 block of Research Boulevard, near North Lamar Boulevard, around 3:45 a.m. Thursday morning.
Austin Fire Department Division Chief Thayer Smith described the scene as "chaotic", and as many as nine people were believed to have been in the mobile home when it caught fire.
Three additional patients were sent to area hospitals as a result of the fire. Austin-Travis County EMS said two adults and one child suffered injuries, with one of the adults being transported in critical condition. Other patients suffered burns and smoke inhalation.
Austin Fire officials said the fire was accidental in nature, from a portable cooking appliance. The home and its contents are a total loss.
Austin Police said they're investigating the child's death as suspicious.
