AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Fire crews spent several hours Friday morning battling a two-alarm blaze at a central Austin home once owned by longtime Austin philanthropists.
Austin Fire crews responded to the scene at 2308 Woodlawn Blvd. around 3:15 a.m. Friday morning. The first crews on the scene reported that the home was already heavily involved.
Crews were able to knock the fire in the 11,653 square foot home down initially, but it later grew back and went to a second alarm. The eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom mansion is located near MoPac Expressway and Windsor Road.

Around 6:30 a.m., fire officials reported that crews were trying to gain access to the basement where the fire was continuing to burn. Around 7:30 a.m., officials said the fire was fully under control.
According to Travis County tax records, the home was once owned by Joe and Teresa Long, the namesakes of the Long Center for the Performing Arts, and was listed at $8.5 million when it went up for sale in 2019. It was sold in August 2020 for an undisclosed price, and was currently under renovation.
