AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Sen. Ted Cruz is projected to have won re-election for a third term in the U.S. Senate, according to election night returns.
Cruz was leading his challenger, Democrat U.S. Rep. Collin Allred, by 54% to 43% just after midnight Tuesday.
"Tonight, the people of Texas have spoken as clear as a bell across our great state," Cruz said during a victory speech in Houston. "Texas will remain Texas."
The race between Cruz and Allred drew a significant amount of national attention, with both candidates raising more than $80 million.
