AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- One person is dead and another was hospitalized after a reported head-on crash in the northbound lanes of MoPac Monday morning.
First responders said the crash happened just before 6 a.m. in the 2600 block of the northbound lanes, near Northwood Road.
Austin-Travis County EMS officials said one person was pronounced deceased on the scene. A second patient was transported to a nearby hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
Only one northbound lane was getting through the area. The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority reported that the northbound express lane was also blocked.
Lane closures continued into the mid-morning hours while crews continued to investigate the scene. According to the Mobility Authority, all lanes finally re-opened just before 11 a.m.
