AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Del Valle ISD officials said Thursday that the district's new high school campus will open a year later than planned.
North Del Valle High School was planned to open in Fall 2027. According to DVISD officials, the delay is due to infrastructure delays in the Whisper Valley development, including road construction around the campus.
"We are disappointed that we must delay the opening, as these obligations have not been met," the district said. "However, these roads are essential to ensure safe access for buses, families, and emergency services before the school can open."
The district says students who were planning to start 9th grade at North Del Valle HS in fall 2027 will instead begin at Del Valle HS, and then transition to the new campus for 10th grade. Attendance zone changes for elementary and middle schools will still take effect in fall 2027, but the high school attendance zones will not change until the new campus opens in Fall 2028.
