AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Fire crews battled a fire burning near the shore of Lady Bird Lake Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to the scene in the 700 block of West Cesar Chavez Street near West Avenue around 6:45 a.m. Friday morning.

Fire officials say an area about 20 feet by 30 feet was burned. No one was reported to be injured.

District 6 City Council member Mackenzie Kelly posted video of the fire to Twitter later Friday morning, calling the fire "Exhibit A" as to why the city should not allow homeless camping in public parks.

Efforts to re-implement a ban on camping in public spaces continue, after voters approved Proposition B on May 1. Austin City Manager Spencer Cronk is expected to release later today a list of city-owned sites that might be used for sanctioned encampments, as city staff continues to "phase in" implementation of the ordinances.
