
AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Early voting is underway for the Saturday, May 7 elections across Texas, which features two statewide constitutional amendments and a number of local and municipal issues.
Early voting runs through next Tuesday, May 3.
Across the state, voters will be casting their ballots on two proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. One would allow for the Legislature to reduce the property tax limit on the homes of elderly or disabled residents, while the second would increase the homestead exemption for school district property taxes from $25,000 to $40,000.
Voters in the City of Austin will cast their ballot on a citizen-led initiative that would eliminate enforcement of low-level marijuana offenses, along with prohibiting the Austin Police Department from using no-knock warrants.
In Leander, voters will decide on whether or not the city should remain a part of CapMetro.
A number of municipal issues will also be on the ballot, including several mayoral, council, and school district ballot items.
Under Texas law, voters are required to bring a form of identification with them to vote. Here are the legally accepted forms of identification:
