AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Early voting is now open for the May 6 municipal elections, which will see Austin voters decide on two competing initiatives for police oversight, along with billions of dollars in school bonds and other municipal races across the Austin metro.

Austin's dueling Proposition A and Proposition B are both entitled the "Austin Police Oversight Act." Proposition A is being promoted by Equity Action, while Proposition B is being promoted by Voters for Oversight and Police Accountability. VOPA has said its version of the proposition omits parts of the Equity Action proposal that likely conflict with state law.

Outside of the city of Austin, voters will decide on a number of mayoral and city council races across the metro area, including races in Bastrop, Georgetown, Marble Falls, Round Rock, and West Lake Hills.

Voters will also decide on a number of school board trustees, along with billions of dollars in school bond proposals. Leander ISD has the largest package before voters at more than $762 million, with packages also before voters in Bastrop, Dripping Springs, Eanes, Hays, Hutto, Jarrell, Liberty Hill, and San Marcos among others.

In Travis County, you can find sample ballots and polling locations online at VoteTravis.com. Early voting locations will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. from Monday, April 24 through Tuesday, May 2, with polls open from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 30. Election Day is Saturday, May 6, with polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
