AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- It's Election Day for the first-in-the-nation Texas primaries, in an election that some analysts are viewing as an early preview of what may be in store for the November midterms.

Texas runs an open primary, which means you can choose to vote in either the Republican or Democratic primaries - but not both. Your choice in the primary won't limit your ability to cast your ballot in November - but if a runoff election is necessary in a race, you won't be able to cross party lines.

Polls are open until 7 p.m. tonight.

For Travis County voters, here's a link to the Republican primary sample ballot and the Democratic primary sample ballot. Polling places, wait times, and more can be found at VoteTravis.com.

Details for other counties can be found here:
Williamson County
Hays County
Bastrop County
Caldwell County

Under Texas law, voters are required to bring a form of identification with them to vote. Here are the legally accepted forms of identification:

Texas Driver License
Texas Election Identification Certificate
Texas Personal Identification Card
Texas Handgun License
United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
United States Passport
