AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- It's the end of an era at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, with the closure of the South Terminal.
Officials announced earlier this month that the separate facility for low-cost carriers would close, with Tuesday marking the final departures. Beginning Wednesday, Allegiant and Frontier will move their operations to the main Barbara Jordan Terminal.
The move brings all commercial airlines under one roof for the first time in years, ending the logistical hurdle of a facility located miles away from the main entrance.
2 days left for departures from the South Terminal.
Starting April 1:
All Allegiant & Frontier flights depart from the Barbara Jordan Terminal.

The decommissioning of the South Terminal is a strategic necessity for the city’s long-term expansion program. The site is slated for demolition to provide the footprint for Concourse B, a massive 26-gate facility that will include a new connector tunnel to the main terminal.
The transition follows a high-stakes legal settlement in November 2023, in which the City of Austin paid $88 million to take full control of the South Terminal from its private operators, who signed a 40-year lease to operate the South Terminal when it opened in 2017.
While Concourse B is not expected to be fully operational until the early 2030s, airport officials are moving quickly to manage the interim "growing pains" caused by the expansion project.
