AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Two people are dead and one person was critically injured in a shooting at the Arboretum shopping center in northwest Austin Thursday afternoon, according to officials.
Austin Police Interim Chief Robin Henderson said 911 operators received multiple calls reporting shots fired around 5 p.m. from the scene in the 10000 block of Research Boulevard southbound, near Loop 360.
Henderson said the first units arrived on the scene at 5:07 p.m. When officers arrived, they found two individuals who appeared to have been shot.
Investigators said the shooter was pronounced deceased, along with one of the victims. A second victim was transported to a nearby hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
Henderson said investigators aren't yet clear on the relationship between the shooter and the victims.
Austin Police, Austin Fire, Austin-Travis County EMS, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Austin ISD Police units all responded to the scene.
EMS said its medics were evaluating two other patients for minor injuries sustained after the shooting.
APD investigators are asking anyone with photographs or videos of the shooting to submit them online.
