HAYS COUNTY, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Hays CISD trustees voted unanimously Monday night to slash more than $12 million from next year’s budget, approving a plan that looks to impact some 125 jobs across the district ahead of next school year.
One of the largest adjustments will be a district-wide increase in class sizes, effectively eliminating 63 teaching positions.

Beyond the classroom, the board approved suspending stipends for nearly 1,000 employees and cutting roles in fine arts, athletics, and social services.
District leaders cited a widening gap between rising operational costs and stagnant state funding as the primary driver for the austerity measures.
