A fire at a homeless encampment on I-35 and Ben White Boulevard destroyed several tents and caused damage to the bridge above it on Sunday morning.
The fire was first reported around 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the 700 block of East Ben White. Crews had it fully under control shortly after 11 a.m.
No injuries were reported, according to Austin Fire. The cause of the fire was ruled accidental, with a candle too close to combustible materials.
Fire officials said one person was arrested for interfering with a public official.
The flyover from eastbound State Highway 71 to Interstate 35 remained closed for several hours as TxDOT crews were called to check the stability of the structure. The flyover eventually re-opened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
