KYLE, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Authorities say a Houston man has been arrested after he allegedly tried to kidnap a 15-year old girl in Kyle last week.

Kyle Police say they received a call reporting a suspicious person in the 200 block of Waterloo Drive just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The caller said an unknown male was trying to get the 15-year old girl into his car; she ran to a nearby house for help.

The male suspect followed the girl and attempted to enter the home, before leaving the area. Once police arrived, the homeowner was able to provide police with video footage from his doorbell showing the suspect and the vehicle, as well as a suspect description from the victim.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and make an arrest, after identifying the vehicle as reported stolen from the Houston area. Police say the suspect has been identified as 38-year old Jerome Ivery.

According to a city release, Ivery is facing charges of attempted kidnapping, attempted burglary, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.

"We are incredibly proud of the bravery shown by this young girl in the face of danger. The swift action taken by both her and the resident who provided her safety is admirable and commendable," said Dr. Jeff Barnett, Kyle Chief of Police. "Our Kyle Police Officers responded quickly, took decisive action and were able to swiftly apprehend this potentially dangerous suspect. I want to thank our officers, and everyone involved in the incident for their action in preventing further harm."
