AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin and Travis County mask mandates will be allowed to continue to stand, a Travis County judge ruled Friday.

District Court Judge Lora Livingston ruled in favor of the city and county in a lawsuit brought by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who sued two weeks ago saying the local mandates were a violation of Gov. Greg Abbott's latest COVID-19 executive order.

Livingston had previously rejected Paxton's request for an emergency injunction on March 12, saying the two sides needed time to prepare their cases.

Paxton's office is likely to appeal the case to the Texas Court of Appeals.
