AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Jury selection is set to get underway Monday in the murder trial of an Austin Police officer, as a second effort to seat a jury in the case begins.

Officer Christopher Taylor is facing a murder charge for the 2020 death of Michael Ramos, during a confrontation in a south Austin apartment complex parking lot.

Monday's proceedings follow the first effort to seat a jury in the case back in May, which ended in a mistrial after allegations of jury tampering and other errors on the part of the court.

Judge Dayna Blazey has previously said three pools of 100 potential jurors will be brought in for jury selection, compared to pools of 80 and 50 in May.

Taylor's defense counsel sought a change of venue last month, saying pre-trial publicity in the case would prevent Taylor from getting a fair trial. Blazey denied that motion.

Blazey has said she expects the trial to last 3 to 4 weeks.
