AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The woman accused of murdering a professional cyclist in east Austin in May 2022 attempted to escape custody of Travis County corrections officers Wednesday morning.
According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, Kaitlin Armstrong ran from officers while leaving a medical office building in the 3700 block of south Second Street shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Armstrong was recaptured within about 10 minutes, about a block away from where she escaped and never left the eyesight of deputies who were with her.
She is facing a first-degree murder charge for the death of Anna Moriah Wilson on May 11, 2022. After becoming a suspect in the case, Armstrong led authorities on a chase to New York, then Costa Rica before she was arrested on June 29, 2022 - about 50 days later.
Armstrong has plead not guilty to Wilson's murder.
Her trial is currently scheduled to begin on Oct. 30.
