AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Voters across Central Texas were turning out in droves Tuesday, with county election officials reporting brisk turnout at many area polling places.
Travis County elections officials said more than 74,000 ballots had been cast in-person by 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, with some of the county's most popular polling places reporting wait times nearing an hour or more.
Through two weeks of early voting, more than 309,000 ballots were cast, along with more than 18,000 mail-in ballots - representing roughly 37% of Travis County's 887,007 registered voters. With the early afternoon turnout figures factored in, just over 45% of registered voters in the county have cast a ballot so far.
Williamson County officials were reporting more than 26,700 ballots cast as of noon on Tuesday - adding to more than 155,000 ballots cast in the county during early voting.
Polls are open across the state until 7 p.m. Tuesday night. If there is a line, you'll be allowed to cast your ballot as long as you're in line by the 7 p.m. cutoff.
