AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead outside of a southeast Austin apartment building Thursday morning.

Austin Police were called to the scene in the 2300 block of Douglas Street, near Oltorf and South Pleasant Valley, just after 9:15 a.m. Thursday. 911 callers reported gunshots, along with a report of a male lying on the ground at one of the buildings.

When officers arrived, they found the male victim with "obvious signs of trauma incompatible with life." Officials said the man, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced deceased a short time later.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Police say it wasn't immediately clear if the man's death was connected to a disturbance reported in the area just prior to the shots being fired.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call APD's Homicide tip line at 512-477-3588.
