AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Police say a man is in custody after an hours-long SWAT standoff on the city's southeast side Tuesday evening.

According to Austin Police, the incident began as a reported "disturbance" inside an apartment in the 1500 block of Wickersham Lane around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Screaming and yelling could be heard.

When officers arrived, they tried to resolve the situation, but a male suspect threatened to shoot officers if they entered the apartment. SWAT and hostage negotiators were called in, but the man remained uncooperative.

An arrest warrant was issued for the man. Officers then learned that a woman was still inside the apartment, possibly being held against her will, which prompted officers to force entry into the unit.

No one was injured in the incident, police said. The male suspect is facing a charge of making a terroristic threat against a peace officer, and other charges may be added.
