(Talk1370.com) -- Our early spring heat wave will continue Friday, with near-record heat and a slim chance for severe storms, especially north and east of the Austin area.
Morning clouds will give way to clear skies in the afternoon, with highs surging into the mid 90s - with Austin seeing a forecast high of 96 degrees. South winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph.
The record high for today at Camp Mabry is 98 degrees, set back in 1963.
The northeastern portion of Travis County, the eastern half of Williamson County, and parts of Bastrop County are under a marginal risk for severe storms - the lowest of five levels in severe weather outlooks issued by the Storm Prediction Center.
Skies will remain mostly clear Friday night into Saturday morning, with lows falling into the upper 50s. Winds will shift around to the north after midnight after a cold front moves through the area, with winds at 15 to 20mph with gusts up to 30mph.
