AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Authorities are investigating an overnight homicide in downtown Austin that left one person dead early Monday morning.
According to Austin Police, officers were flagged down in the 500 block of East 6th Street near Neches just after 1:30 a.m. Monday morning. They discovered a female victim in an alleyway between 5th & 6th Streets.
That victim was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Police say they have identified a person of interest in the case and are questioning that person. No information on the victim or that person of interest was immediately available.
It is the city's 41st homicide investigation of 2024.
