One dead in north Austin shooting Friday night

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting in north Austin Friday night.

Austin Police say the incident happened around 9 p.m. in the 1100 block of Mearns Meadow Boulevard, near the Quail Creek Neighborhood Park.


Police say when they arrived, they found a Hispanic male who had been shot while seated in a vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts from EMS, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

According to witnesses, police say there appeared to have been an argument and struggle inside the victim's vehicle. Witnesses heard several gunshots and saw multiple subjects fleeing the scene, including a tan or silver 4-door sedan, possibly a Toyota or Infiniti.

Police say robbery appears to be a motive in the case. Detectives believe one or more of the persons of interest in the case may have been wearing one of the wigs pictured below when the shooting occurred.
