AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- A pedestrian trying to cross the mainlanes of Interstate 35 was hit and killed Wednesday morning in downtown Austin, officials said.
Austin Police tell us the crash happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday in the northbound mainlanes of the lower deck just north of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene, officials said.
The driver of the pickup remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police re-opened the mainlanes around 7:45 a.m., with delays stretching beyond Ben White Boulevard.
