AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police have officially identified the suspect in Tuesday's shooting spree that stretched from eastern Bexar County to northeast Austin, that resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to three others.
Police say 34-year old Shane James is being held in the Travis County Jail after being booked at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Investigators believe James is responsible for the deaths of two people on Shadywood Drive in far south Austin, and two people in a home on Austral Loop in the Circle C neighborhood.
Bexar County authorities also believe James is connected to a double homicide on the county's eastern side, after two victims were found in a home in Kirby just east of San Antonio.
In addition to the six homicides, police say James shot a cyclist on West Slaughter Lane, along with an Austin ISD Police officer near Northeast Early College High School and an Austin Police officer in a backyard of the home on Austral Loop.
Both police officers are recovering from their injuries, officials said.
