AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- First responders were investigating their second homicide scene of the day in central Austin Sunday evening.

Police say a Hispanic male in his 40s was found dead near the intersection of East 52nd Street and Cameron Road in Central Austin, just east of Interstate 35. APD responded to the scene just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Despite lifesaving measures, the man was pronounced deceased a few minutes later.

Police said that investigators had determined that two people were involved in a "verbal altercation," leading one to shoot the other. No one is in custody, but police do have a person of interest they are working on locating.

It's the city's 38th homicide investigation of the year - and the second of at least three on Sunday.

Earlier Sunday afternoon, first responders were called to an apparent double homicide in southeast Austin, where a man and a woman in their 70s were found dead with gunshot wounds.

And as investigators were working both of those scenes, a third homicide was reported along Airport Boulevard.

Anyone with information on this homicide investigation is asked to call APD's Homicide tip line at 512-477-3588, or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.
