AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are on the scene of an apparent double homicide in southeast Austin Sunday evening.

First responders were called to the scene in the 7500 block of South Glenn Street, off of McKinney Falls Parkway west of U.S. 183 around 4:30 p.m. for a welfare check. A family member said they had not heard from one of the victims in some time.

Officers were unable to make contact with anyone inside the residence; once they made their way inside, they found a man and a woman both in their 70s dead with gunshot wounds.

Police say it appears the pair were dead for as many as two to five days.

Investigators are working to confirm the relationship between the two individuals; police say it does appear to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.

It's the city's 37th homicide of the year.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact APD's Homicide tip line at 512-477-3588.
