GEORGETOWN, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Police are investigating a string of 20 vehicle burglaries that occurred late at night over the weekend across four Georgetown neighborhoods, resulting in the theft of seven firearms.
The break-ins spanned the Village, Fairhaven, Teravista, and Summercrest neighborhoods. According to Georgetown Police, six of the targeted vehicles were confirmed to have been locked, while six were confirmed unlocked, with the other eight unknown.
Investigators have recovered surveillance footage showing two masked suspects, both of whom appear to be armed with handguns.
The department is urging all gun owners to take extra steps to secure their weapons, advising them to remove firearms from vehicles entirely and store them safely inside their homes. Residents are being asked to take a few moments each night to check their vehicles, lock doors, and remove valuables to prevent property loss and keep dangerous weapons out of criminal hands.
The investigation into the burglaries remains ongoing. Anyone with surveillance footage, information about suspicious activity over the weekend, or details that may assist investigators is urged to contact the Georgetown Police Department immediately.
