
AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are investigating what they're calling a suspicious death on the city's east side Monday morning.
According to APD, the call came in just after 8 a.m. Monday morning from the 8400 block of Garcreek Circle. That's just off of Loyola Lane near Decker Lane in far east Austin.
The 911 caller reported hearing several gunshots and requested EMS.
When officers arrived they found a victim, identified as a Black male in his early 50s, with obvious trauma to the body. That victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased just after 9 a.m.
Police say a person of interest has been identified, and witnesses are also assisting with the investigation. Anyone with additional information is urged to call APD's Homicide tip line at (512) 477-3588.
The case is Austin's 77th homicide of the year.
