AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are on the scene of what they're calling a "suspicious death" in North Austin on Thursday morning.
First responders were called to the scene in the 600 block of West St. Johns Avenue just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday, near St. Johns and Guadalupe Street.
A 911 caller reported finding a male victim that was lying in the stairwell. When officers arrived a few minutes later, they found a Middle Eastern man in his early 30s with "obvious signs of trauma incompatible with life."
He was pronounced deceased on the scene at 7:36 a.m.
Police said it's not clear if the victim was a resident at the apartment building or not. Detectives are actively investigating the scene; anyone with information on the case is urged to call APD's Homicide Tip Line at (512) 477-3588.
This would be the city's 78th homicide of 2021.
