Police investigating suspicious death in South Austin parking lot

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are investigating a suspicious death on the city's south side around the noon hour Sunday.

Police say they received a 911 call from the 500 block of West Oltorf, near South 1st Street, just after 11:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

The 911 caller reported that two male subjects were involved in a dispute in a parking lot in front of the restaurant at 526 West Oltorf.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found one of the subjects who had obvious trauma to his body. Eyewitnesses had been providing medical treatment to the man, and he was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased just before 12:30 p.m.

The other subject involved has been detained and is cooperating with the investigation, police said. Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact APD's Homicide tip line at 512-477-3588.

This would be the city's 76th homicide of the year.
