One dead after 6th Street shooting in downtown Austin Thursday afternoon

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are investigating a suspicious death in downtown Austin Thursday afternoon.

Police say it happened in the 400 block of East 6th Street. A 911 caller reported shots being fired around 1 p.m. in the south alley.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male victim with obvious trauma to the body. Despite lifesaving efforts, that victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

APD homicide detectives are investigating the case and speaking to witnesses. No suspect information was immediately available, police said.

The case is being investigated as the 23rd homicide of the year in the city.
