AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- As predicted, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport smashed its own busiest day ever record Monday, with travelers from the weekend's Formula 1 race and the Texas-Georgia football game leaving town after the weekend.
AUS officials say 44,043 passengers were screened through TSA security checkpoints on Monday, besting the old record set just last year - 43,243 - by exactly 800.
Sunday was the airport's fifth busiest day on record, with 39,380 passengers being screened.
So far, six of the airport's ten busiest days on record have occurred this year. Only three days in the airport's history have exceeded the 40,000 passenger mark - all three being the Mondays immediately following Austin's annual F1 race weekend at Circuit of The Americas over the last three years.
