Power restoration efforts continue Saturday, city leaders to provide afternoon update

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The number of Austin Energy customers without power fell below 100,000 Friday evening, as hundreds of line crews continued to trace outages across the utility's service area.

As of 9 a.m. Saturday morning, Austin Energy was reporting just over 75,000 customers without electricity in more than 1,600 individual outages.

Austin Energy officials said in a Saturday morning tweet that more than 256,000 customers have had power restored since the storm began - including some 51,000 since 5 p.m. Friday.

City leaders, including Mayor Kirk Watson, are scheduled to provide an update on the restoration and response efforts at 3 p.m. at Austin City Hall. You can hear that update live on Talk 1370 and Talk1370.com when it happens.
