AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The search process for Austin's next police chief enters a new phase Monday, with the first of five virtual community meetings aimed at community feedback on what the city should look for in its next chief.

Ralph Andersen & Associates is assisting City Manager Spencer Cronk with the search for the city's next police chief to replace Brian Manley, who retired at the end of March. According to city staff, the firm has helped 35 other cities in hiring police chiefs in the last five years.

The virtual meetings will take place over Zoom.

Two meetings are set for Monday, one from noon until 1 p.m. and another from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A third meeting is set for Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., and two meetings are set for this Friday, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.

For those who can't attend the virtual meetings, the city also has an online survey form.

Cronk is expected to name a finalist by the end of the summer.
