AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- A rally at the Texas Capitol Monday afternoon will protest Gov. Greg Abbott's order lifting the statewide mask mandate later this week.
The rally, which will feature members of the Amplified Sound Coalition and the Austin chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, will be protesting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday afternoon outside the south steps of the Capitol.
The group is calling on Abbott to not relax the state's mask mandate and business capacity limits until 70% of essential workers have received their COVID-19 vaccine.
The new statewide order eliminating the mask mandate goes into effect Wednesday.
