AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- A new report shows the economic impact of this year's South by Southwest Conference and Festivals, and the related SXSW EDU event, generated a record amount of impact on the Austin economy.
The 2023 events generated an estimated impact of $380.9 million. The estimated spending includes direct spending by festival attendees, along with SXSW and its partners.
This year's impact represents a $25 million increase over the estimated $355 million impact of the 2019 festival, which was the most recent full-scale event after two years of virtual conferences and a scaled-back 2022 event due to the pandemic.
According to the report, more than 52,600 hotel room nights were booked in relation to the festival. In total, there were more than 11,400 hotel reservations made, along with an average daily retail spending amount of $225.
SXSW 2024 is set to take place from March 8-16, 2024.
