ROUND ROCK, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Voters in Round Rock ISD will get the final say in November on a nearly billion dollar bond proposal, after trustees voted to send it to ballots Thursday night.
It's the district's first bond package in six years. Voters will be asked to approve $998 million dollars across four propositions, with nearly 80% of that devoted to maintenance and repairs at the district's existing campuses.
“This was truly a team effort to ensure that the propositions we offer to our voters would impact all our students and our hardworking staff,” RRISD Superintendent Dr. Hafedh Azaiez said. “I am so thankful for the countless hours of work to finalize a list of projects that will expand and enhance programs and facilities throughout our district.”
Proposition A will call for $798.3 million for maintenance and repair at the district's existing campuses, including air conditioning systems, roofing, electrical, and plumbing systems, along with other updates such as fresh paint, new ceiling tiles, and flooring. The package would also include funds for new buses, as well as a district-wide Career and Technical Education facility for all students.
Proposition B will call for $125.3 million dedicated to upgrading instructional technology and infrastructure systems, along with speed and reliability improvements to the district's network.
Proposition C will call for $8.6 million for improvements to the district's fine arts facilities, including stage lighting and sound systems.
Proposition D will call for $65.9 million for improvements to athletics facilities, including upgrades to locker rooms, lighting, scoreboards, and artificial turf. It also includes funding for the construction of a standalone multi-purpose athletic facility.
Election Day is November 5.
