ROUND ROCK, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Round Rock ISD Superintendent Dr. Hafedh Azaiez resumed his duties Friday morning, following a vote by the district's board of trustees Thursday night.

Trustees voted 5-2 to reinstate Azaiez, with trustees Mary Bone and Danielle Weston voting against the measure. Board members spent nearly 30 minutes in executive session prior to taking the vote.

“As Board President, I am pleased to welcome back Dr. Azaiez and look forward to working together to refocus on our students and staff and to continue building a culture of excellence in Round Rock ISD,” board president Amber Feller said in a district statement.

Azaiez was placed on administrative leave in early January while the district hired an external investigator to look into allegations made against him in a protective order issued by a Travis County judge in July 2021. That protective order contained allegations of physical assault and infidelity.

No charges have been filed against Azaiez. The protective order expired on Dec. 15, according to court records.

Azaiez's suspension in January followed a recommendation from an external monitor assigned to the district by the Texas Education Agency, David Faltys. That monitor assignment stems from a previous complaint filed against a former board member in 2019.

Board members received the investigator's report on March 8, but have not publicly disclosed any of its contents. The Travis County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Education Agency have also been investigation allegations related to the order.
