AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Several first responder agencies across Central Texas were reporting issues with 911 calls Sunday afternoon.
According to the City of Austin, the entire Central Texas region was experiencing "occasional technical difficulties" with 911 services. Cedar Park, Lakeway, and the City of Austin were among those reporting difficulties.
Austin officials said the system was "normalizing" as of 10 p.m. Sunday night, but an all-clear had not been given.
The release said 911 calls were going through, but the technical issues were causing callers and call-takers to have difficulty hearing each other, along with missing automatic location information. Some calls were also being routed to neighboring jurisdictions.
The City of Austin says anyone having difficulties reaching 911 should call 311 or 512-974-2000 instead. In Hays County, residents should call the Hays County Sheriff's Office at 512-393-7896.
