AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Hours after both of Austin's reporting stations marked new record highs of 103 degrees Sunday, strong to severe thunderstorms moved through the area, dropping large hail and strong winds across parts of Williamson and Travis Counties.
Reports of up to baseball sized hail were scattered across much of Georgetown, Round Rock, and further south into the northern part of Austin.
Sunday's storms followed an afternoon that saw record highs of 103 degrees set at both Camp Mabry and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport - despite the end of summer early Saturday morning.
Austin Energy officials were reporting more than 20,000 customers without power as of 11 p.m. Sunday night, while Oncor officials reported about 4,300 customers without power in Williamson County.
Chances for scattered showers and storms continue overnight into Monday.
