AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Authorities are investigating after a man died following an apparent shooting in the Wells Branch area overnight.

The Travis County Sheriff's office says a patrol deputy was flagged down by a man parked in the 1700 block of Wells Branch Parkway just before midnight Sunday night. The deputy found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the back seat of a 2023 Nissan sedan with front-end damage.

The victim, only identified as a 29-year old male thus far, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

TCSO says the 32-year old man who flagged down the deputy was detained and remains in custody. The two men did know each other, investigators said.

According to the initial investigation, deputies believe the shooting occurred at a different location and that the vehicle had been involved in a recent collision.

This is the sixth murder investigation of 2023 for Travis County.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call TCSO's Tip Line at 512-854-1444, or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.
