Strong, possibly severe storms likely Friday afternoon; warm and sunny weekend ahead

(Talk1370.com) -- Rain and storms will be the story of the day on Friday, with another chance for severe weather across the Interstate 35 corridor.

Our first round of showers and storms has passed through; a second round could set up later tonight, moving through the I-35 corridor around 8 p.m. These storms could continue to be strong to severe, with large hail continuing to be the primary threat.


The Storm Prediction Center continues to keep much of the Austin metro area and the Hill Country under a slight risk for severe storms - the second of five levels on the SPC outlook.

The severe storm threat will end tonight, with a 20 percent chance of storms. Lows will fall into the mid 50s, with southwest winds up to 10mph.

SATURDAY...Sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. Northwest winds 5 to 15 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT...Clear. Lows in the mid 50s. Northeast winds up to 10 mph.

SUNDAY...Sunny. Highs in the upper 80s. South winds up to 15 mph.

SUNDAY NIGHT...Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s.

MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...Mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 80s. Lows in the upper 60s.

TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY...Mostly cloudy. A 50 percent chance of thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 60s. Highs in the lower 80s.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY...Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 50s. Highs in the upper 70s.
